Katie Platten was an owner and executive at Solomon Corporation, a manufacturing company of electrical distribution equipment, in Solomon, Kansas. After her retirement in 2015, she served as a volunteer directing a hot meals program to low-income children for several years before acting as Interim Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Northern Kansas. She currently serves on several boards, including Salina Regional Hospital Center, the Salina Country Club, and the Salina Diocesan Development Committee. Platten is a member of Salina 2020 and Grassroots Efforts, a company established to help foster new businesses in downtown Salina. She lives in Salina with her husband Tom, where they are members of St. Mary Queen of the Universe Church in Salina, and have three children, Ben, Joe, and Natalie.
