Salina, Kansas – May 9, 2024 – The Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Salina are pleased to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Counslr, a leading mental health and wellness app, for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Through this collaboration, Counslr will be made available to 8th through 12th graders at the Catholic Junior/Senior High Schools within the Salina Diocese.

Counslr is a text-based mental health support application that provides unlimited access to live texting sessions with licensed professionals, 24/7/365. Students access support on-demand within two minutes of opening the app, or by scheduled appointment. Through real-time texting, users enjoy one-on-one, private communication with a licensed counselor that can be conducted anytime, anywhere.

“We are thrilled to introduce Counslr to our students as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting their holistic well-being,” said Geoff Andrews, Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Salina. “In today’s fast-paced world, it’s essential that we provide our students with resources to help them navigate the challenges they may face, both inside and outside of the classroom. Counslr offers a convenient and confidential way for students to access the support they need, when they need it.”

This partnership was made possible through a generous Community Health Investment Program (CHIP) Grant from the Salina Regional Health Foundation. The grant funding will cover the implementation and ongoing support of Counslr within the Catholic Junior/Senior High Schools of the Salina Diocese.

“We are grateful to the Salina Regional Health Foundation for their support and recognition of the importance of mental health in our schools,” said Dr. Nick Compagnone, Director of Public Policy and Accreditation for the Catholic Schools of the Salina Diocese.

Sacred Heart Jr/Sr High School Assistant Principal John Hamilton is looking forward to students being able to have the support they need when they are away from school. “By partnering with Counslr, we are empowering our students to prioritize their mental wellness and seek the support they deserve.”

Counslr is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for students to explore their mental health needs and develop coping strategies for life’s challenges. The app prioritizes user privacy and confidentiality, ensuring that students can seek support without fear of judgment or stigma.
