The ordained deacons of the Catholic Diocese of Salina are called by God to serve His people in the Church in Word, Liturgy, and Service. As members of the clergy, deacons assist the Bishop, his presbyterate, and the laity in ensuring that the poor, the marginalized, the sick, and the forgotten are properly taken care of. The deacon does this by the example of his own service and by his preaching of charity found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He also assists the men and women of the Church in their call to the faith through the rites, liturgies, and teaching that he conducts.
“Direct, O Lord, we ask Thee, all our actions by Thy holy inspiration and carry them on by Thy assistance, that every prayer and work of ours may begin from Thee, and through Thee be brought to completion“
