Throughout 2025, we are called to walk the path of faith together, uniting our hearts and minds as “pilgrims of hope.” We can do this in a literal way by going on pilgrimages to undergo spiritual growth and draw closer to God.
During this jubilee year, Pope Francis has designated five Holy Doors, which are special places symbolizing the transition from sin to grace. The five doors are located at St. Peter’s Basilica, San Giovanni in Laterano, Santa Maria Maggiore, San Paolo Fuori le Mura and the Roman Rebibbia prison.
In addition to these Holy Doors, Bishop Vincke has designated several sacred sites in the Salina Diocese, encouraging parishioners to visit them and pray.
It’s important to note that a pilgrim is different from a tourist. The intent behind pilgrimages is not to just encounter something beautiful with our eyes, but to have those encounters stir something beautiful within our souls, a turning back to God with hope. This jubilee year, consider making a pilgrimage to one of our Diocesan Sacred Sites!
