Breakout Session #1
Hope That Does Not Disappoint: Living the Eucharist Through Service (General Track)
Megan Robl
The Eucharist is the source of our hope—and our call to serve. In this session, we’ll reflect on how the Eucharist sends us forth as missionary disciples to accompany the poor and vulnerable with compassion and courage. Rooted in the Jubilee Year of Hope theme, “Hope Does Not Disappoint,” we’ll follow the journey of a fictional neighbor navigating real-life challenges in our diocese, from crisis to transformation. Along the way, you’ll learn how Catholic Charities of Northern Kansas brings Christ’s hope to life through emergency assistance, outreach, counseling, and more—serving over 8,000 people each year across 31 counties. This breakout will offer a blend of Eucharistic reflection, storytelling, and practical tools for building communities of hope. Whether you’re seeking to deepen your faith or get more involved, this session will inspire you to live the Eucharist through action—and to believe in a hope that never fades.

Peace in the Storm: Anchored in Jesus, Not the World
Sr. Benedicta Hawkins
The story of Peter walking on water (Matthew 14:22-33) allows us a glimpse into an intimate encounter between Peter and Jesus, yet an encounter that we ourselves can enter into and gain from it many truths about the spiritual life. So often, the world offers us distractions, lies, and fears designed to pull our focus away from Jesus—when we turn to the ways of the world, we experience inadequacy, comparison, and fleeting promises of peace. However, when we are anchored in Jesus, He gives us strength to reject the lies of the world and to hold fast to God’s enduring promises. He offers us a peace that surpasses all understanding and freedom from the anxiety that comes from trying to control what only He can. Throughout this break out session, we’ll more deeply explore the story of Peter walking on the water, the gaze of Jesus, the lies of the world, but most importantly, the truth that even when we start to sink, Jesus immediately reaches out His hand to lift us up again. He is always there waiting for us.

Where the Sky Meets the Summit: An Introduction to Called & Gifted, Charisms, & YOU! (General Track)
Colleen O’Dowd
Since 1993, over 200,000 laypeople, clergy, and religious across the globe have embarked on the Called & Gifted™ Discernment Process to uncover how the Holy Spirit is uniquely at work in their lives. This powerful discernment process helps Christians recognize the charisms—spiritual gifts—they’ve been given not just for their own sake, but to represent Christ and be channels of God’s goodness for others. Charisms are not reserved for a few; they are for every baptized Christian. As the Catechism reminds us, “All charisms ought to be exercised in the service of God” (CCC 2003). Come find out more about this experience, ask questions, — and get on the list to find out when it might be coming right here to the Diocese of Salina, Kansas!
