Catholic Charities of Northern Kansas is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Emergency Assistance Coordinator to join our team in Hays. This full-time position plays a vital role in welcoming walk-in clients, coordinating emergency financial assistance, and providing critical front-line support in a people-centered office environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet clients warmly and manage front-desk reception duties to create a welcoming environment.
- Process applications for emergency financial assistance (rent, utilities, prescriptions), verify documentation, and communicate with vendors.
- Distribute non-financial aid (food, hygiene supplies, gas vouchers, bus passes, diapers, etc.).
- Conduct client needs assessments and make appropriate referrals.
- Maintain accurate records and timely data entry in agency systems.
- Provide administrative support, process counseling payments, and coordinate office donations.
- Collaborate with community partners to enhance service delivery and support.
- Serve as a liaison for the Christmas Program and a backup for outreach services as needed.
Who We’re Looking For:
- A caring professional with 1+ year of experience in direct service or a nonprofit setting (3+ years or a degree in a related field preferred).
- A strong communicator who can stay calm under pressure and effectively manage busy office traffic.
- A detail-oriented team player who values collaboration, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable using data systems to track services.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus, but not required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, ability to lift 30 pounds, and complete Safe Environment training and background check.
