This year’s theme is: Designed by God, Guided by Love, Open to Life
Church teaching about the moral regulation of births in marriage is rooted in the nature of humanity as being made in God’s image and likeness. That means that every man and every woman has a capacity to love just like God—selflessly. We can make a gift of ourselves—one to the other. The teaching is also rooted in the nature of marriage as designed by God. Married love is the one-flesh union which is given freely, totally (permanent), faithfully, and fruitfully. Since the methods of NFP respect the love-giving (unitive) and life-giving (procreative) nature of the conjugal act, they support God’s design for married love and the gift of life.
