New Scholarship Established to Support Students from Salina Catholic Schools and Goddard Who Attend Wichita State University
WICHITA, Kan. — April 25, 2025 — A new scholarship supporting Wichita State University Students is now available for current and previous students of Salina Catholic Schools and Goddard High School. The Wichita State University Foundation and Alumni Engagement (WSUFAE) recently established the Compagnone Family Scholarship, made possible through the generous contributions of WSU alumni Craig and Dana Compagnone. The scholarship is available as early as the fall semester of 2025. Craig and Dana Compagnone, both graduates of WSU’s Elliott School of Communication, have deep roots in Kansas and a strong commitment to education and community engagement. Craig, a Sacred Heart High School (Salina) alumnus and WSU’s 2001 Man of the Year, and Dana, a Goddard High School graduate, were both deeply involved in campus leadership, student government, philanthropy, and student life during their time at WSU.
Education is a cornerstone of the Compagnone family legacy. Craig’s parents, Dr. Nick and Cindy Compagnone, dedicated over 45 years of service to Catholic education in the Diocese of Salina. As longtime administrators and educators, Dr. Nick and Cindy played pivotal roles in shaping the lives of countless students, instilling values of faith, service, and academic excellence. Their unwavering commitment to Catholic education served as an inspiration for Craig and Dana in creating this scholarship.
“The experiences and education we received at Wichita State shaped who we are,” said Craig and Dana in a joint statement. “This scholarship is our way of giving back and investing in future Shockers who come from the schools that were fundamental to our early education.”
The Compagnone Family Scholarship will be awarded annually and is open to full-time and part-time students at WSU. The first preference is given to students who attended Salina Catholic Schools at any point during their K-12 education. Second preference is for students who graduated from Goddard High School. The scholarship is merit-based and may be renewed, though recipients must reapply each year.
The Compagnone Family Scholarship exemplifies the spirit of Shocker alumni and their commitment to lifting up future generations through education.
