The Catholic schools of the Diocese of Salina have been serving the people of Northwestern Kansas for over 100 years. During that time, the dedicated pastors, teachers, and administrators of those schools have provided an excellent Catholic education to thousands of children, thus contributing to the communities of Kansas and the nation, the gift of people who have been educated in the Catholic faith.
These schools are an asset to the civic, business, and academic communities. Kansas Assessment scores and ACT scores are above average. Our schools strive to be on the cutting edge of technology, curriculum, and child development. Our dedicated administrators and teachers are in constant formation as educators.
Over the past few years, we have been revitalizing our schools so that they remain relevant and equipped to prepare our students for jobs that don't yet exist. Our STREAM program is being developed to integrate technology skills in grades PreK- 12. We have updated our high school curriculum to align the course of studies with identified career pathways, enabling students to compete in the 21st century.
Our local school councils of education, utilize the talents of generous lay people to govern our schools, lending their expertise to create budgets, monitor policies, plan for the future, and assess the leadership of the schools. This ensures local ownership which represents a rich diversity in our schools.
As a diocese, we have updated our curriculum, provided professional development to our teachers and principals, maintained standards for instruction, as well as networked with other educational institutions and partnered with community resources.
The basic mission of our Catholic schools of the Salina Diocese provides an excellent grounding in the Catholic faith, working in partnership with parishes and parents so that, as a faith community, we can contribute to the Church, young people whose mind, body, and soul have been nurtured in the school setting. Our teachers and our administrators are certified by the State of Kansas. We are also accredited through AdvancED standards that validate our Catholic mission. Those standards provide the best methods of passing on the Catholic Faith, and training our students to be service-oriented, prayerful, and contributory members of their communities.
We encourage parents to explore and inquire about sending their children to these fine schools. Our schools serve children of all faiths, ethnic backgrounds, and economic strata; in short, we give young people a great start in life.
