Junior CYO Camp 2017

PARENT INFORMATION

General Information:
Is your child looking for something different this summer?  At Rock Springs 4-H Ranch opportunities abound.  Your son or daughter can experience camp and life away from home in the beautiful Kansas Flint Hills, riding horses, swimming, canoeing, and making new friends who share their faith.  They can try their hand at archery, crafts, rifle range, softball and volleyball.

Their Catholic faith will be nourished with guest speakers, faith sharing, prayer, and liturgies.

Camp is for youth who are in 6th, 7th, and 8th Grades this school year (Fall 2016-Spring 2017).  The dates for Jr. CYO Camp for youth campers are May 27-30, 2017.

Cost of Camp

The fee for camp is $ 180.00.  There is a non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $ 90.00 to be paid at the time of registration.  The remaining $ 90.00  may be paid on arrival at camp or the full amount may be paid at the time of registration.  (Make checks payable to "Diocese of Salina"; Memo Line: Youth Name & Jr. CYO Camp).  All meals and supplies are included in the cost except the rifle range, snacks, and crafts. (Do not bring your own shells.  This is not allowed.)

Car-pooling is recommended for transportation to and from the camp.  If you do not know others from your area who are coming you may call the office 785-827-8746 and ask for Julie or Karen for information.

Dress Code

This is a Catholic Camp and we ask students to dress in an appropriate manner.

Registration Forms/Deadline

Registration Forms can be obtained on this website.  Look under Documents on this page.   There are 6 forms that need to be completed and returned to the diocesan office by May 5, 2017. Forms: Camp Application, B, C, D, HIPAA, and 2017 Rock Springs Youth Health & Participation Form.

Safety Issues

We take every precaution possible to protect your child from harm.  We have first aid materials and medical persons available for assistance.  We require a medical history from every participant and medical release permission from parents in the event there is an emergency.  For serious health matters we take youth to the hospital in Junction City.

Use of Phones

We request that cell phones be left at home. It is disruptive of the camp experience for youth to be receiving calls from outside and/or inside camp when they should be involved in camp activities.  There are some phones available at camp if campers want to call home.

Arrival and Departure Times

Youth may arrive at camp between 2 and 3 pm on Saturday, May 27th, 2017.  Camp concludes with the noon meal on Tuesday, May 30th.  Youth may be picked up any time after 1:00 pm.

Please honor the times listed above.  Late arrival and early departures are strongly discouraged as welcome and closure are important parts of the total experience.  In the event that a late arrival or early departure is necessary, please contact Sister Barbara Ellen as soon as possible.

Your child will be permitted to ride home from camp ONLY with the person or persons listed on his/her registration form.  If you need to change or add names to the form you may do so at the time of check-in.  Your signature is necessary to allow your child to ride home with anyone other than his/her parents or guardian.

Emergencies/Medicine

In case of an emergency during the camp please call Rock Springs Ranch at 785-257-3221.  If your child is taking medication for any problem they should bring it in the prescription container and give it to their counselor with instructions for use.  Any critical needs should be noted on the health form.
