Is it For You?

In the summer of 2005, my entire world had been turned upside down.  I had just walked away from a nine year teaching and coaching career, and was preparing myself to move to Denver, CO, in order to begin studying to become a Roman Catholic Priest.  I remember wondering what in the world was I doing.  It was such a fascinating time in my life, and I am sure that it will not be forgotten anytime soon.  I was filled with both great deal of joy, but also with a certain amount of anxiety.

I knew in my mind that I was making a wise decision to attend the seminary, and I also knew that the thought of the priesthood had been on my mind for some time.  I can still remember the best advice I was ever given on the topic. “Gale, you don’t decide to become a priest, and then go to the seminary.  You go to the seminary to find out if in fact you are being called to be a priest.”

Fast forward ten years and I am now in my third year as a priest for the Diocese of Salina.  I now also serve as the Co-Director of Vocations for our great diocese.  If you are finding yourself with that lingering thought of becoming a priest, or with some of those same questions I had running through my mind over a decade ago, I would love to visit with you.  Feel free to contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. God bless you,
