Heavenly Father, confident in the presence among us of your Son, we, the people of the Salina Diocese, continue to expand on what our ancestors established through selfless love in building our faith communities. As we go forward in hope, help us to give ourselves selflessly in love to our brothers and sisters and so strengthen the body of Christ. Help us, through your Holy Spirit, to grow in holiness and follow your will so that we can face the challenges before us with confidence. Help us to walk together, sharing each other's burdens and joys, so that we may leave a vibrant legacy of faith, hope and love for future generations.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Divine Mercy Radio is proud to announce that a single compact disc of the musical composition, “Stewards of Hope,” a hymn of prayer and worship written and sung by Father Nick Parker, will be released April 2 – the anniversary of the death of Pope John Paul II.
Father Parker said he was approached by Father Randall Weber to write a song based on the pastoral plan of the same title. Click on the player below to listen to a sample.

“It was the hardest song I ever wrote,” Father Parker admitted. “Most of the songs I have written are
more light-hearted and were done more for personal enjoyment."
Father Parker also said that the melody was dancing in his head as he wrote the words to “Stewards of Hope.”
Donetta Robben, executive director of Divine Mercy Radio, said she first heard the song at Bishop Coakley’s farewell Mass.
“It’s a most beautiful hymn with a catchy tune,” Robben said, who was part of the Stewards of Hope committee to put the pastoral plan together. “The words say exactly what Bishop Coakley was trying to accomplish with the Stewards of Hope pastoral plan, and I truly believe it is what God desires for his Church.
“As soon as I heard it, I just felt in my heart it needed to be recorded for all to hear.”
Bishop Coakley's Hopes for the Pastoral Planning process.
On Friday May 8, 2009, Bishop Coakley released a video that details his hopes and expectations for the current ongoing Pastoral Planning process for the Diocese of Salina. Each parish in the diocese is to show the video to its parishioners over the next two weekends. The video, along with a Spanish version, is also available for viewing on the diocesan YouTube channel, http://www.youtube.com/SalinaDiocese.
The purpose of the video is to explain what has already been accomplished by the Diocesan Pastoral Planning Commission, as well as what actions are still left to be undertaken. It is also the Bishop's desire that all members of the diocese become engaged in this process as an act of stewardship in determining the diocese's pastoral priorities.
